The Irrigation & Flood Control Department (IFC), Government of NCT of Delhi, is responsible for managing flood control, drainage, and irrigation systems in Delhi. It plays a critical role in planning and executing measures to prevent flooding during monsoon seasons, maintaining embankments, and ensuring proper water management across the city. The department operates the Central Flood Control Room, which monitors water levels, rainfall, and drainage conditions, issuing alerts and coordinating emergency responses during high-risk periods. IFC also undertakes projects for stormwater drainage improvement, desilting of drains, and strengthening of flood protection infrastructure.
